Dixie Dance Kings
2002 Record Pool Of Year
DDK does it again!! We got this note from Dan.....
The staff, management and membership
of the Dixie Dance Kings would like to thank The Winter Music
Conference and the Dance Music Community for recognizing the members
of DDK as the Record Pool of the Year for 2002 at the International
Dance Music Awards in Miami on March 20th, 2003.
We would also like to congratulate all of the winners, especially
our friends at Robbins for their multi category wins, and our
friend, Gary Deane as Independent Promoter for the third consecutive
year.
Thanks to all of the labels that support the DDK and all record
pools. There is no more cost effective way to create a nationwide
presence on the dance floors of America than by using the pool
system that has been assisting the Dance Promotion Community for 25
years.
We are at your service.

Dixie Dance Kings
2001 Record Pool Of Year
The following is an open letter we received from
Dan Miller....
Atlanta, GA - April 19, 2002 -Congratulations are in order
for all of the past and present members of the DDK. Last Monday, at
the International Dance Music Awards in Miami Beach, Dixie Dance
Kings received the award for Record Pool of the year. Not bad for an
organization that started in 1979 with 5 boxes of records and
a roll of tape.
Thanks to all of you for your support, hard work, enthusiasm, and
most of all,
through the tough times, your faith in Dance Music and Club DJs.
This is the first time in several years that this award has been
given, and the first time EVER that the award has gone to a pool
outside of New York.
Please keep in mind that this award is for the Record Pool of the
Year, not the
Record Pool Director of the Year. We service the best DJs and Hot
Mixers in the
Southeastern US and all of us at DDK are extremely proud of their
efforts on our
behalf, and on behalf of our industry, DJ Times and FMQB.
We are know facing the most challenging period I have ever
experienced in this
business, and that goes back 25 years. But challenges create
opportunities. For all of you out there, at the labels and the radio
stations and in the clubs, remember that the Record Pools of America
are here to help you. Our sole purpose is to facilitate
communication between the Artists and Labels and the DJs that we
service, and to provide fast, accurate information to Radio and
Retail.
We are, as we always have been, the least expensive, most effective
tool the
industry has ever known to distribute dance music to clubs. Yes,
even faster than a speeding internet, able to leap tall..... But I
digress.
Thank you all for you help, support and encouragement over the
years. And if
you need anything, we are here to serve.

- EDITOR'S NOTE:
No one in the Industry is more deserving of this award than
Dan & his crew at DDK. From day one, they have been a model for
all record pool administration & service. Congrats, DDK!!
I remember how proud we all were, Jack Witherby, George Hill,
Hubert Charles, & I (Ray Ford), (among others) back in 1979 when
our Southwest Record Pool won the Record Pool Of The Tear award at
the Billboard Dance Music Forum in NYC.
